The Fruit Rxs!
In the U.S. Farmers' Markets are quite popular this time of year, you know local farmers
selling fruits, vegetables, eggs, dairy products, meats and baked goods.
And if you're lucky enough to travel to Europe, more specifically, The Mediterranean,
try and take advantage of the fruits and vegetables the farmers are selling at their
outdoor markets.
And unlike the apples, oranges and blueberries you'll find in the U.S.
fruits like grapes, dates and pomegranates are available along the Mediterranean.
And if you do partake in the fruit, here are some healthy benefits you'll get from each
fruit.
a) Grapes-
If you're a regular here then you may read have a post (or two) on grapes.
And if you like grapes, and you want to stave off the aging process you're in luck.
Grapes (especially dark grapes) are loaded with resveratrol, a compound that shuts
off the aging gene, helping you look and feel younger.
It (resveratrol) also boosts memory, and lowers your odds of getting certain cancers
and strokes.
And lastly, dark grapes are great for those who don't drink.
Resveratrol is also present in red wine.
b) Pomegranates-
Popular in a number of countries, pomegranates boast a number of health
claims...keeps skin tight and taut, a stronger heart and today's claim: less wear and tear
