The Pub Rxs For Better Health!

                        A Pint For Better Health!

When one thinks of pubs what thoughts usually come to mind?
Out-of-control men, fights and vomiting.
But like most things that are usually deemed "bad for you"
pubs can bolster your health... how?

In moderation, beer can do a number of things to improve your
health, things like...
a) keep your bones strong

b) keep hair thick and luxurious
c) lower odds of getting type-2 diabetes
d) keep your mind in tip-top shape, beer helps keep plaque
 from attaching to brain cells.
And the 2 latest discoveries...

e) Lower Cancer Rates-
Beer helps kill at least 60 different types of cancer cells on contact,
including the ones that cause ovarian, colon, uterine and breast

cancers. The hops in beer kill the cancer cells.
f) Beat Summer Heat-

If Summer fatigue is getting to you, drink a beer or two and overcome it.
The antioxidants in beer improve insulin sensitivity inside muscle
and brain cells. This helps the cells quickly soak up and use energizing
glucose for fuel.
So, if you had a negative opinion about pubs, remember this post,
and think of all of the good a pint (only 1) can do for you.

Good Luck!

Ireland's Rx For Leftover Adult Beverages!

Drink Your Way To Better Health!

If you weren't able to celebrate St. Paddy's in Ireland, don't despair,
most of us weren't that fortunate either.

And if you want to celebrate a few thousand miles away, do with
a pint of Guinness stout.

Beer? Isn't that an insulting stereotype?
No, a pint (and only a pint) can benefit your health and looks in
a number of ways, like...
a) Thicker Hair-
A comedian once joked- "every time I walk past the men on skid row,
I never see any bald men!" Well, that comedian may be onto something
and that something is...a 10 to 12 oz. serving of Stout has ample amounts
of B vitamins and iron in it, and they're the 2 things every scalp needs.
After shampooing, pour some stout into your locks and work it through
with your fingertips. After a few minutes, wash it out. Do this once or twice
a week and see if it makes a difference.
b) Bone Health-
Concerned about bone loss or braking a hip as you get older?
Build up bone strength with a glass of stout or beer each night.
c) Live Longer-
Similar to the post we submitted last week, the Irish like the Germans
may live a little longer thanks to their beer drinking.
The compounds in beer, (the vitamins, minerals, hops) do everything
from lower your cholesterol to keeping your heart free of plaque,
and these 2 things help you live an extra 2, 4 or even 7 yrs. longer.
d) End Insomnia-
Non-alcoholic beer like O'Douls is winning rave reviews as a natural sleep
aid. And if you've been having trouble getting to and staying asleep,
try some non-alcoholic beer an hour before bed.

That's it- some helpful tips on how to use that leftover beer from
St. Patrick's day. And also remember- stop at one glass or 1 bottle of
beer, any more than that and you undo all of the healthy benefits,
which will make things worse.

Good Luck!

English Pub's Rx To Fight Inflammation!

Have A Pint For Better Health!
English, Scottish and Irish pubs sometimes get a bad rap.
The bad rap: People drink to excess, they waste money,
don't spend time with their families and of course, the fights.
But wait- there's something positive that can happen after
visiting a pub.

The something positive:
Younger arteries and a reduction in inflammation.
That's right, a pint of ale or lager can actually do your
health some good.

How does beer help your arteries and fight inflammation?
a) Younger Arteries-
Lagers and Ales contain a host of compounds that
expel dangerous LDLs (bad cholesterol) from your
arteries.
b) Inflammation-
A beer a day lowers levels of homocysteines, inflammatory
amino acids that damage artery walls and impede circulation
by thickening the blood.
So, if you're from England, Scotland or Ireland, and you've
been getting grief for visiting the pub on a daily basis-
remember this post and say-"I'm drinking for better health."

Also important:
Make it one beer, one ale or one lager daily, any more and you
undo all the good benefits and no smoking.
Have your one drink and then socialize.
Socializing also has positive benefits on your health.

Good Luck!
