Canada's Sweet Rx For Better Health!

A Hot Toddy For The Winter!
A warm toddy is quite popular in a number of countries, England, Ireland, Germany
and Canada.
You know, a warm beverage (coffee or cocoa) with some alcohol in it.
And if you think  hot toddies' only purpose is to help warm you up
during the Winter months, you're wrong.

They (hot toddies) can help prevent colds, help you get over a cold,
build up immunity levels, build bone strength and if you're in Quebec
Canada during the big festival, their brand of a hot toddy can...
* help you fight certain cancers
* Slow down the aging process
* Beat bloat
* Help end a cold and flu.

How is this possible?
In Quebec, they make their toddies with maple syrup, real maple syrup,
not the high fructose corn syrup you find at most grocery stores.

Maple syrup, which is has a lower glycemic index than sugar is also
loaded with antioxidants, vitamins and minerals-making it a health-boosting
powerhouse.

So, if you're not able to get to Quebec Canada this Winter or even Vermont, (another
big maple syrup producer) don't sweat it, just use the hot toddy recipe down below.

Recipe for The Quebec Sweet Maple Coffee Toddy!
Ingredients:
1 cup hot coffee
1/3 cup milk, heated up a little (not scalding)
2 Tbs. brandy, or whiskey or cognac
1 Tbs. real maple syrup
Whipped cream
Maple sugar (optional)

Directions:
In a large mug, add the first 4 ingredients.
Stir well, and if you want- place a Tbs. of whipped cream and some

maple sugar on top.
That's it- a warm beverage to help lower the outdoor temperatures and
boost your health all at the same time.

Good Luck!

France's New Year Rx For A Sharper Brain!

Ring In The New Year With Champagne!

If you're a regular reader of this blog, then you may have read a post
or two on the benefits of a drink a day. An alcoholic drink a day.

And if you plan on ringing in the New Year, do it with a drink
that's closely related to the wealthy and the French.

The drink: Champagne.

Made from grapes that are grown in the Champagne region
of France, new studies say a few glasses of champagne a week
can improve both long-term and short-term memory, abstract reasoning,
concentration and overall smarts.

How is this possible?
Champagne is loaded with brain-protecting antioxidants and polyphenols--
and the fizzy bubbles, they speed the flow of neuron-nourishing blood to the brain.

So, if you were reluctant to spend money on champagne, perhaps
a sharper brain may be all the incentive you need.

Good Luck!

World's Best Beverage Rxs For Better Health!

Drink Up and Improve Your Health!

For a lot of people, this time of year means making and eating great food
and drinking great wine, whiskey, champagne and ale.
And if you're the type that can stop at one "adult" beverage a day,
give yourself some applause.
Applause...why?

A drink a day, be it wine, champagne, ale, whisky or even eggnog with
a little rum can improve your health in a number of ways.

Ways like...
* Cold and flu prevention.
Alcohol can improve immunity, making it difficult for germs to enter your system.
And if you are sick, have a hot toddy (popular in Ireland) and cut the duration
of your cold by a few days.
* A better brain-
Alcohol improves blood flow and that blood flows goes everywhere,
to your heart and your brain. And if you're concerned about your memory

fading or Alzheimer's setting in, have a glass of bubbly each day.
And even more good news: A doctor had patients who showed early signs

of dementia, change their eating habits, exercise a little more
and drink a shot of whisky or a glass of wine each day.
The results:  many were able to return to normal.

* Build Stronger Bones-
The jokes surrounding the English and their drinking has been going
on for decades, what may not be a joke, is that a mug of ale (dark)
may prevent bone thinning. And this is especially beneficial to women,
postmenopausal women concerned about breaking their hips.

What type of ale works best?
The type that's the least processed. Look for Sierra Nevada Christmas

Ale. (google it)
* A Longer Life-
Overdo the alcohol and you'll most likely speed up your decline, keep it

to a drink a day and you may live an extra 5 or more yrs. longer.
As mentioned earlier, improved blood flow, stronger immunity and
lower blood pressure all contribute to greater longevity.
So, if you or someone close to you goes overboard with the alcohol,
perhaps showing him or her this post may get them to change their ways.

And one last tip, if you're really a fan of adult beverages and you like
to travel, why not combine the two?
Say what?
That's right, head online to Amazon.com.the kindle store and download
a copy of see title to the right...
Once you download it, you'll find out what people from
other states prefer to drink. And if you can't travel to
the states to get these drinks, there are recipes so you
can make them in the privacy of your own home.

Good Luck!
