Walk This Way For Better Health!
If you've been reading this blog for awhile now, then you're well
aware that a lot of countries featured here share a lot of the same
things to stave off aging, or to look better or to prevent diseases
and illnesses.
Things like, tea or coffee drinking, the eating of less meat,
the eating of beans, family dinners, and exercise.
Yes, exercise. But not just any exercise.
We're talking about gently strolling across the mountains
or through the streets of Rome or Paris.
It's walking, and new research says that the gentle and slower
paced walking can benefit your health in a number of ways, like...
a) A Longer Life-
Say no to the brutal running and jogging that's so popular
in the U.S. and take up walking instead. Just 5 minutes a day
can strengthen muscles, improve coordination and lower heart
disease risk.
b) Middle-Age Spread-
It doesn't have to be in middle age, a bigger stomach is a problem
for a lot of folks and following a sensible diet and strolling for 12
mins. each day can have you back in your skinny Jeans in no time flat.
c) Anxiety Attacks or Bad Moods-
One doctor who treated people with mind disorders like
blue moods, anxiety or hostility toward others had his
patients walk for 20 minutes to see if this would work.
Well, it did, a lot of his patients said they felt a heck of lot better
after walking. Even better- the doctor said walk in a circle and preferably
outdoors, (In the Sun) to help change your mind to happiness and positivity.
d) Stronger Bones-
A concern for many as they age, but not anymore. Walking for 20 to 30
mins. each day helps prevent bone loss and even spurs the growth of
new bones, helping protect you from the fears and trauma of a fractured
hip, wrist of leg later on in life.
e) Memory Builder-
Another concern as we age...memory loss or Alzheimer's.
Change that with a daily 30 to 40 stroll 3 to 5 times each week.
Walking can actually increase volumes of key areas responsible
for memory and other complex tasks.
Another tip: If you have kids who struggle with tests and remembering
important information, try and see if daily walks can help them turn
things around.
That's it- and if you're looking for the Fountain of Youth, look
to the people of Sicily, Tuscany, Nepal, Greece, France.
Chile, Okinawa and Tibet because they found it and it's called Walking.
