The Greek's Herbal Rxs For Better Health!

                           Live Long Like A Crete!

Crete- a picturesque isle off the coast of Greece, is now being recognized by
natural healers, medical professionals and researchers as a place where living to
age 80, 90 and beyond is becoming the norm.
And why is it happening?
Strong family ties
Walking long distances
Strong coffee
Fish
Vegetables and fruits
and herbs.

That's right- herbs. If you're a resident of the U.S. you may think salt, pepper
and cinnamon are the only things that should go on food or a hot beverage,
but not in China, India, France, Italy, Puerto-Rico,  Poland or Greece.
In these countries, you'll find a lot of meals and beverages being flavored
with anise, cilantro,  nutmeg, chives, curry, turmeric, saffron, and Cumin.

And if you find your way to Crete, you'll most likely be introduced to
bay leaves, olive leaves, thyme, milk thistle and fennel and if you're not sure
how these herbs benefit your health, just look below...

a) Milk Thistle-
Liver need rebuilding? Look no further than Milk thistle.

M. T. is a natural filter for your liver, purging pollutants, heavy metals and pesticides.
Look for milk thistle in capsule form at health-food stores.
One word of caution- it's best to take this under the supervision of your doctor.

b) Thyme-
Used for centuries to quell endless coughing, it's now being used to help those
who need a natural digestive aid. Yes, probiotics are getting a lot of attention,
and thyme is a great way to help restore "friendly bacteria" to your gut.

Look for fresh or dried thyme at supermarkets and add some to a soup, stew or tea,
or look for thyme in capsule form at health-food stores.
c) Bay Leaves-
You may recognize those thick, hard green leaves known as bay leaves as something
you add to a pot of sauce, soup or stew, but today- Bay leaves can help those
who suffer from aches and pains. And there's more- they also help those who are
at risk for blood clots, (long distance travelers or people sitting for long periods of time)
Look for bay leaves at supermarkets and place a few in a pot of water and let simmer

for 15 to 20 mins. allow the water to cool and drink up.
Or add some to warm bath to help erase those achy joints.
d) Fennel-
Popular in France and Italy as well and if you're a woman who's beset with
female problems- painful cramps or pregnancy cravings, then you must eat
and drink more fennel.
Look for it fresh or dried at supermarkets, (look for ways to cook it
on Google.com) or use the dried version to make fennel tea.
e) Olive Leaf=

Most of us know all about olives and olive oil, but the Cretes know all about the
olive leaves. And if you want to reduce blood pressure, keep your heart in tip-top

shape and block the spread of viruses, then you must add these green leaves
to your daily regimen.
One last benefit: olive leaves pack twice the antioxidants of green tea.

Look for olive leaves in capsule form and remember- do not add any type of
plant, nutrient, or vitamin without consulting with your personal physician first.

That's it- and if you want tips on how certain populations around the world
live such long and vigorous lives, head on over to Amazon.com/the kindle store

and type The Asian, French, Greek and Italians Rxs For Super Longevity
in the search bar, download it and have it on hand for those times when 60 or 70
yrs. of life just aren't enough.

Good Luck!

The Scandinavian Rx To Prevent Winter Illness!

                           Help For That Sore Throat!

Like a lot of people, you probably enjoy the Winter months.

The snow, the holidays, the endless array of food, warm fireplaces,
skiing, skating, family gatherings, etc.
And if you're like most (normal) people, you probably hate driving

in the snow, the weight gain from all of that good food and getting sick.
And by getting sick, we mean the beginning of a cold, the sore throat.

And if you're one who likes to use only natural methods to try and conquer
sore throats, colds and flu, then you may want to use the following recipe,
a recipe that can shut down and even prevent sore throats.
And something even better, the vegetables in this recipe
are now being recognized as one of the main contributing factors to
longevity records that the people of Denmark, Norway, Finland,
Iceland and Sweden currently enjoy.

And what is the contributing factor?
Root vegetables.
That's right, the women of Denmark, Finland and Norway take great pleasure
in growing and cooking onions, cabbage, turnips and parsnips
and these root vegetables are allowing the women (and men) to live well into
their 80's and 90's, trailing right behind the Japanese, (in terms of longevity).

So, if you're a vegetable lover, and you want to prevent sore throats and
hopefully live well into your 90's, just copy the recipe listed below.

Root Vegetable Medley!
Ingredients:
1 lb. onions
1 lb. carrots
1 lb. parsnips
1/2 lb. turnips

3 Tbs. butter
1/2 cup pine nuts
1 1/2 Tbs. minced garlic
4 to 6 wedges of lemon
1 Tbs. fresh minced parsley
--------------------------------------------
Directions:
Trim and peel onions, cut into thick wedges.
Trim and peel the carrots and parsnips, cut into thick
diagonal slices. Clean the turnips, peel them and then dice them.

Combine the veggies with a 1/2 cup of water and place in 3 to 3-1/2
qt. microwave safe baking dish. Cover with plastic wrap, microwave on
high until all of the veggies are tender, (about 10 to 12 mins.)
Stir the veggies while they're in the microwave.
In the meantime, take out a skillet, turn on the heat, (medium-high)
and melt the butter. Add the pine nuts, watching them so they don't burn,
add the minced garlic, until lightly browned. Drain the vegetables,

move them to a platter and top them with the garlic, pine nuts and minced parsley.
And lastly, squeeze the lemon juice over the vegetables, or
give a slice (or 2) of lemon to family (or guests) and let them
put their own lemon juice on.
That's it, this should serve 5 to 6 people.

The Nordic Rx For Fewer Aches and Pains!

Get To The Root Of The Problem!

We may have mentioned once or twice that the women of the Scandinavian
countries are now second to Japanese women in terms of longevity.
The women do a number of things to achieve such longevity, things like...
drink coffee, (Finnish women) eat appetite-taming bread, (Danish women)

eat Skyr, a low-fat yogurt, (Icelandic women) and eat plenty of root vegetables,
(all Scandinavian women) and if you're starting to feel the effects of aches
and pains, then you should do the same.

Why root vegetables?
Root vegetables like beets, carrots, parsnips and turnips are rich in potassium,
zinc and other minerals, and they help quash pain-triggering inflammation.
Eat some of these foods daily and lower your risk of aches and pains by 30%.

That's it- and 2 more things, make sure to prepare the root vegetables in
the healthiest ways possible, and eat them with other foods that also
reduce inflammation. No fattening burger and bun with some roasted carrots
or turnips.
And recent research says that women who eat the most root vegetables can expect
an extra 5 to 8 yrs. of life.
As for men who eat root vegetables, sorry no longevity benefits for you.

And lastly, if you want more great tips on how the women (and men)
of Iceland, Denmark, Norway, Sweden and Finland live such long and healthy
lives--head to Amazon.com/the kindle store and type The Nordic Secrets For
Longevity and Health in the search bar.
Download it and get a few extra years out of life like the Scandinavians.

Good Luck!

But, that's not the point of this post, the point is to let you know
that thanks to the scenic views that were shown in the movie,
people are now flocking to Norway.

Norway?
That's right, the filmmakers shot a lot of footage of Norway
and used it the movie and now people are picking up on it
and traveling to Norway.
And if you and your family plan on traveling to Norway
to see some of the sights used in the movie, make sure to come back
with something more than still photos and video.
Yes, as we mentioned in previous posts, Danes, Finns, Norwegians
and Icelanders are some of the healthiest people around
and if you want some of their good habits to rub off on you,
stick around and learn about their customs, foods and traditions.

And if you want more on this, but aren't willing (or can't) travel
to Norway, look for an E-document called The Nordic Secrets

The Danish Dessert Secret For Great Health!

                 Eat This For Dessert!
The people of Denmark are the second thinnest Europeans right

behind the French. And some of the ways they maintain their trim
figures is with long bike rides, Nordic walking and simple desserts.
Due to the high taxes, a lot of people leave their cars at home,
they also use poles to walk the rugged terrains and for dessert,
it's something simple like cheese and grapes.
That's right- No big slices of cakes or 1/2 dozen cookies and a bowl

of Ice Cream (like some countries- the U.S.) The people of
Denmark are quite content with a slice or two of cheese and some grapes

and this dessert can do more than satisfy a sweet tooth, it can prevent a deadly
disease from ever gaining a foothold inside your body.
The food duo steadies your blood sugar and improves insulin sensitivity,

reducing your risk of diabetes by 65%.
So, if you're ever tempted by that pie or those oatmeal cookies, do like the
Danes and keep it simple and reach for the cheese and grapes.

If you want more info on how the Danes, the Finns, The Norwegians, The Swedes and The Icelanders are able to live atop rugged terrain and endure brutal and dark Winters, go online to Amazon.comthe kindle store and download...The Nordic Secrets To Perfect Health!
See title at right.

build strong hearts, keep slim and trim,
