Mexico's Rx For A Faster Metabolism!

                            Boost Your Metabolism!

Although Summer is almost here, many of you out there are still
concerned about bathing suits.

More specifically- how you'll look in your bathing suit.
If you've been eating more baked fish and salads to get into shape,
try the food known as The "Mexican Potato" and see if there's
any difference in your weight and metabolism.

A Mexican potato, real name--Jicama! It looks like a round
Idaho potato, sweet yet low in calories, it contains a unique
kind of fiber called inulin, and inulin revs up calorie burn.
Look for it at any supermarket or a Spanish market, bring it

home, dice it up and add it to everything from salsa to guacamole.
Or add some lime juice to your diced jicama for a tasty treat.

And lastly, if you want a metabolism boosting salad dressing to go with
your love of salads, here's one...

Combine 1 tbs. sesame seed oil, 1 tbs. grapeseed oil, 1/2 tbs. lime juice,
1/4 tsp. celery seeds, 1/4 tsp. cracker red pepper and a pinch of sea salt.

Good Luck!

Italy's Rx For A Stronger Physique!

                           Avoid Bone Loss!

As one ages the fear of losing sight, mobility, hearing and thinking abilities become
major concerns.
Another major concern as we age is bone loss, aka Osteoporosis.
But, it doesn't have to be that way,  you can avoid it if you do some simple things.
Things like...
*stay active
* lift weights (even jugs with coins in them, count)
* eat bone -enhancing foods like plums, pecorino cheese
onions, dark choc. mustard, fish and drink beer)
* Or do like your brothers and sisters from Tuscany,
   Sicily and Rome do.
 What is that?
Eat more tomatoes. No, not red tomatoes.

The red variety do offer some health benefits, like...protection from
the Sun (a natural sunscreen) an appetite suppressant, and help
you live about 5 to 8 yrs. younger.
But the tomato we're talking about is unripened and still green.

Yes, if you're a fan of green tomatoes, then you're in luck.
Thanks to new research, green tomatoes have special compounds in them

that keep bones strong well into old age.
And they seem to work better than the foods (and beverage) mentioned above.

So, are you willing to eat more green tomatoes for stronger bones?
If so, make sure to prepare them in a way that doesn't hinder or harm
your health. No deep frying in oil and covered with white flour.

Go online and look for alternatives to all of that oil and all of that
flour.

That's it- and don't forget to check out more great info on living

The Mediterranean Rx For Younger Skin!

Eat Like A Greek For Youthful Skin!

The talk of skin, bathing suits and sun damage always come up
when it gets warmer. If you're concerned about aging skin, then
you may need to follow the examples set by the people of Mediterranean
countries.
That's right- the people eat certain foods that not only enhance their
health, but their looks as well.
The Foods:
a) Bruschetta-

You may know this food as an Hors d' oeuvre, but it can actually help
protect your skin against the Sun's harmful rays, plus make it (skin)
more supple. How?

Tomatoes contain an antioxidant called lycopene, and this antioxidant
attacks and destroys free radicals-molecules that damage skin's

support systems. And the basil and olive oil provide you with collagen,
a compound that keeps skin soft and supple.
Need a recipe for Bruschetta?
In a bowl, toss together 1 large diced tomato, 1 clove of chopped
garlic, 1 tbs. of fresh or dried basil and 2 tbs. olive oil.
Mix well and spread over a few slices of lightly toasted Italian
or French bread.

The second food:

Eggplant!
Popular in a number of  countries, not just Mediterranean
countries. Eggplant mixed with olive oil is said to help keep

skin looking  years younger by a decade or two. That's it- some foods that will help you look younger for
yrs. to come.

Want more tips on how to look yrs. younger than your
actual age?

Mexico's Easter Rx For Better Health!

                      Eat More Eggs!

If you're from the school of eggs contain cholesterol, therefore I
avoid them, it's time to rethink that.
It's been reported that the people of Mexico eat the most
eggs and you don't hear of serious issues with heart disease
or heart problems in the Mexican community.

And now that Easter 2014 has passed, it's time to

use up those leftover Easter eggs.
Use them to make deviled eggs or egg salad sandwiches
or a regular salad (Mexican style) with avocadoes,
hot peppers, capers, and some beans (black or red).
Eating more eggs and less red meat, can help you...
* beautify skin, nails and hair. (avoid the dreaded turkey neck)
* boost energy levels
* Save your eyesight (avoid cataracts and macular degeneration)
* trim your belly
* keep your heart in tip-top shape
* end blue moods

* develop super Intelligence (especially helpful for kids)

much more.

The World-Wide Exercise Rx For Better Health!

Walk This Way For Better Health!

If you've been reading this blog for awhile now, then you're well
aware that a lot of countries featured here share a lot of the same
things to stave off aging, or to look better or to prevent diseases
and illnesses.
Things like, tea or coffee drinking, the eating of less meat,
the eating of beans, family dinners, and exercise.

Yes, exercise. But not just any exercise.
We're talking about gently strolling across the mountains
or through the streets of Rome or Paris.
It's walking, and new research says that the gentle and slower
paced walking can benefit your health in a number of ways, like...
a) A Longer Life-
Say no to the brutal running and jogging that's so popular
in the U.S. and take up walking instead. Just 5 minutes a day

can strengthen muscles, improve coordination and lower heart
disease risk.
b) Middle-Age Spread-
It doesn't have to be in middle age, a bigger stomach is a problem

for a lot of folks and following a sensible diet and strolling for 12
mins. each day can have you back in your skinny Jeans in no time flat.
c) Anxiety Attacks or Bad Moods-
One doctor who treated people with mind disorders like
blue moods, anxiety or hostility toward others had his
patients walk for 20 minutes to see if this would work.
Well, it did, a lot of his patients said they felt a heck of lot better
after walking. Even better- the doctor said walk in a circle and preferably

outdoors, (In the Sun) to help change your mind to happiness and positivity.
d) Stronger Bones-
A concern for many as they age, but not anymore. Walking for 20 to 30
mins. each day helps prevent bone loss and even spurs the growth of
new bones, helping protect you from the fears and trauma of a fractured
hip, wrist of leg later on in life.
e) Memory Builder-
Another concern as we age...memory loss or Alzheimer's.
Change that with a daily 30 to 40 stroll 3 to 5 times each week.

Walking can actually increase volumes of key areas responsible
for memory and other complex tasks.

Another tip: If you have kids who struggle with tests and remembering
important information, try and see if daily walks can help them turn
things around.

That's it- and if you're looking for the Fountain of Youth, look
to the people of Sicily, Tuscany, Nepal, Greece, France.
Chile, Okinawa and Tibet because they found it and it's called Walking.

Mexico's Rx For A Better Brain!

                         Use Spices and Herbs!

Concerned about brain aging? Are you fearful of becoming forgetful,

or worse--getting dementia or Alzheimer's?
Well, a new study revealed that adding some herbs and spices to

your meals or making a tea out of them may reverse and even prevent
ailments that affect the brain.

You can go back and look at our post on Turmeric, the golden
spice popular in some parts of India, and where the rates of
dementia and Alzheimer's are extremely low.

And today, the same thing is being said about an herb that's
popular in Central and South America.
The Herb: Cilantro! Also known as "Mexican Parsley!"
Fresh cilantro is an acquired taste, but you can add it to a smoothie or mix and match it with other herbs and spices to mask the taste.
And yrs. of research done on mice has shown great promise in terms of restoring the brain back to it's original state.

How does it work?
The herb is a potent antioxidant, antibacterial and antifungal with little
to no side effects. and i
t improves circulation to the brain, imparting
mental concentration
and memory.
Another benefit: Cilantro can help usher out some of the mercury in
your system, especially for those who are fans of fish.

So, if memory loss, dementia or Alzheimer's is something you want to prevent,
go the natural route and add some parsley, basil, cilantro, coriander
and turmeric to soups, smoothies, stews, guacamole or add them
all to a mug of hot water, let steep for 5 mins. and then sip slowly.

Good Luck!

Finland's Beverage Rx For a Longer Life!

                                Drink A Cup Of Joe!

Ever wonder about the healthy secrets that come out of Finland?
We hear about Denmark and Sweden, but very little about how the
people of Finland stay hale and hearty.

One secret, that may not actually be a secret is the Sauna.
That's right- sitting in a Sauna for a few minutes a few times
a week can help you prevent colds and help you remove
toxins and impurities from your system.

But, what else?

Well, there's a beverage and it was thought to be the no. 1
beverage drunk by the people of Brazil, Italy, Columbia and
Greece.

First, the beverage: It's coffee and if you thought more
coffee was consumed by the Columbians, or the Greeks,
or the Brazilians, you were wrong.

Yes, according to recent research, the people of Finland drink
about 3 to 5 cups of coffee a day and thanks to all of that coffee
drinking, the people of Finland are way healthier than a lot of other
people located all over the World.
Healthier in a number of ways like...
a) A Longer Life-
Thanks to the polyphenols in coffee, you get a 20% reduction
in dying from anything.
b) Stops Diseases-
Reduce your chances of getting certain cancers and diabetes
by 40%.
c) A Sharper Brain-
Drink coffee before giving an important speech or taking
an important exam and coffee will help you remember more.
Another benefit: Defeat brain aging and reduce your chances of getting
Alzheimer's by 30%.
d) A Stronger Heart-
Concerned about heart attacks and strokes? Don't worry, drink more
coffee. Coffee can help keep dangerous plaque from attaching to
arteries located near your heart.

There you have it, 4 benefits of drinking more coffee each and every day.
Also important: If you do decide to drink more coffee, talk to your Dr.
first. And have the coffee with a little milk and skip the danishes,
cannolis, doughnuts, and other pastries that'll only take away from the
good things in coffee, and help shorten your life.

Good Luck!
