California's Rx For Revelers!

                     Eat This To Avoid Hangovers!

A number of people all over the World follow a vegetarian diet.
There's the Hunza tribe who live atop the Himalayan mountains
and in the U.S. --the Latter Day Saints of Loma Linda California,
also known as Mormons.

Nothing unusual here, again a lot of people follow this type of
diet.

Yes, that's true, but these 2 groups of people also live well into

their 80's and 90's, and they do so without the heart disease,
high blood pressure, Alzheimer's, certain cancers and diabetes
that affect so many.

And there's one vegetable that these two groups may or not eat and it can
help you avoid getting sick on the first day of the New Year.
Give up? We're talking about hangovers on the first.
There are a number of things one can do to get over a hangover,
but what about avoiding them in the first place.
Well, if you can eat some steamed asparagus (lightly buttered)

an hour before indulging, then you may avoid the headaches, the
kicked in the stomach feeling and the nausea that's so commonly
associated with a night of  overindulging.

Why asparagus?
It has the right combination of vitamins, minerals and amino acids that
helps whisk alcohol out of your system, before it can do serious damage to

your insides.
There you have it, our last post for the yr. 2014.
And we hope to bring you more great info from here and abroad to
keep you hale and hearty in the new year.
                                  HAPPY NEW YEAR!

France's New Year Rx For A Sharper Brain!

Ring In The New Year With Champagne!

If you're a regular reader of this blog, then you may have read a post
or two on the benefits of a drink a day. An alcoholic drink a day.

And if you plan on ringing in the New Year, do it with a drink
that's closely related to the wealthy and the French.

The drink: Champagne.

Made from grapes that are grown in the Champagne region
of France, new studies say a few glasses of champagne a week
can improve both long-term and short-term memory, abstract reasoning,
concentration and overall smarts.

How is this possible?
Champagne is loaded with brain-protecting antioxidants and polyphenols--
and the fizzy bubbles, they speed the flow of neuron-nourishing blood to the brain.

So, if you were reluctant to spend money on champagne, perhaps
a sharper brain may be all the incentive you need.

Good Luck!

China's Rx For Living Till 100!

                            Live Long Like The Chinese!
There's a remote, mountainous region of China, where it's not unusual to

see 100 yr. old men and women walking or doing outdoor chores.
This part of China is called Bama county, and the people who live here
are more likely to reach 100, even more so than people from Greece,
or Denmark, or Bulgaria or Osaka Japan.

And if you want one of their secrets for super longevity, continue reading...

The one thing that helps Asians in Bama county live till 100 is...
Hemp Seeds!

Hold on, before you get the wrong idea, these seeds are rich in omega-3 fatty acids
and they're used to make a broth, a broth called Houmayou, also known as longevity
soup. And this soup is proven to boost mood, improve focus, and attention span,
and reduce inflammation.
The type of inflammation that causes brain and heart aging.
And in addition to omega-3 fatty acids, the seeds also contain vitamin E,
protein and all nine amino acids.

So, if you want to add an extra 5, 10 or even 20 yrs. to your life,
do like the people of Southwestern China and add hemp seeds to your

daily menus.
Find the seeds at health-food stores or online at Amazon.com or
SwansonVitamins.com and add them to smoothies, salads,
oatmeal or veggie stir-fries.

And one last tip--
If you want more longevity secrets from the people of Bama county,
head to Amazon.com/the kindle store and type The Asian, French, Greek
and Italian Rxs For Super Longevity in the search bar.
And once you download it, you'll also learn how the people treat and
prevent diabetes with this plant. How they boost immunity with this mineral.
How they prevent cancer with this oil. And how they avoid disease by
by breathing this.
Don't delay, head to Amazon.com and get started on your own path
toward living till 100.

The Icelandic and Italian Rx For Better Moods!

                            Dairy Foods For Better Moods!
Dairy like wheat is getting a bad rap, but let's not forget, if made with
superior quality and very few additives (or chemicals) all foods can benefit you

in some way.

And that's the point of today's post, Ricotta and Skyr are two dairy foods that
we first think of when asked to name dairy foods related to these 2 countries.
(Italy and Iceland)
And if you're a fan of Ricotta cheese or Skyr, a less sweet type of yogurt,
new research says--both foods can help you sail through the holidays.
Sail how? As in better moods and more calm.

First the Ricotta.
Used in a number of Italian dishes, pasta and baked goods,
this cheese contains the richest sources of whey protein, which helps
your brain make the amino acid tryptophan, the building
block of mood-boosting serotonin. And the more serotonin

in your system, the better your moods.
But wait, there's more, when test subjects ate more ricotta, they
also experienced fewer cravings and reduced appetites.
Researchers think that serotonin also helps cut your cravings and
stops the mindless bingeing, far too many people suffer with.

And now on to the Skyr.
In Iceland- with their 15 or more hours of darkness in the Winter, the people

need something that'll keep them calm and even-tempered and that something is Skyr.
Thanks to the friendly bacteria in this food, it (the bacteria) reduces levels of
the brain chemicals that triggers tension and foul moods resulting in a calmer
and more stress-free you.

So, if the dark and depressing days and nights of this Winter season
are getting to you, remember your brothers and sisters in Italy
and Iceland and eat more Skyr and Ricotta.
Look for Skyr (in the U.S.) under the name Siggi's or try Stoneyfield
or Fage brands of plain yogurt.

And if you need a last minute Christmas gift, remember our past E-Docs.

France's Rx For Better Heart Health!

Eat This For A Better Working Heart!

Fat gets a bad rap, what type of rap? It causes you to get fat, it clogs
up your heart and raises your risk of stroke.
But that's simply not true, and thanks to research done in France,
we now know it's definitely not true.

And the type of fat we're talking about is butter.

You see, the French eat butter on their veggies, their crusty loaves
of bread and in their deserts, and yet, have way fewer cases of
heart attacks, much lower than their American counterparts.
And although there are a number of reasons for the low number of

heart attacks, (longer dinners, chewing food thoroughly, better quality
of food, and wine) researchers say butter has a lot to do with it.

Butter?
Yes, unlike the artery clogging margarine, butter is rich in
lecithin, vitamin K2 and other nutrients that block the buildup
of artery-clogging plaque, lowering your odds of a heart attack
by 25%.

So, if you marveled at France's good health fortunes, marvel
no more, just put away the margarine, the canola and vegetable oil
and eat more butter.
One butter to consider: Ghee butter. Available at Whole Foods
or online at SwansonVitamins.com.
Be prepared to pay, this butter is expensive.

Hey, isn't your health worth it?

And lastly, if you want to learn how French star Catherine Deneuve
is able to look 10 to 12 yrs. younger, head to Amazon.com/the kindle store
and type The French Rxs For Health, Longevity and Everlasting Beauty,
in the search bar.
Hint: It's a food.

World's Best Beverage Rxs For Better Health!

Drink Up and Improve Your Health!

For a lot of people, this time of year means making and eating great food
and drinking great wine, whiskey, champagne and ale.
And if you're the type that can stop at one "adult" beverage a day,
give yourself some applause.
Applause...why?

A drink a day, be it wine, champagne, ale, whisky or even eggnog with
a little rum can improve your health in a number of ways.

Ways like...
* Cold and flu prevention.
Alcohol can improve immunity, making it difficult for germs to enter your system.
And if you are sick, have a hot toddy (popular in Ireland) and cut the duration
of your cold by a few days.
* A better brain-
Alcohol improves blood flow and that blood flows goes everywhere,
to your heart and your brain. And if you're concerned about your memory

fading or Alzheimer's setting in, have a glass of bubbly each day.
And even more good news: A doctor had patients who showed early signs

of dementia, change their eating habits, exercise a little more
and drink a shot of whisky or a glass of wine each day.
The results:  many were able to return to normal.

* Build Stronger Bones-
The jokes surrounding the English and their drinking has been going
on for decades, what may not be a joke, is that a mug of ale (dark)
may prevent bone thinning. And this is especially beneficial to women,
postmenopausal women concerned about breaking their hips.

What type of ale works best?
The type that's the least processed. Look for Sierra Nevada Christmas

Ale. (google it)
* A Longer Life-
Overdo the alcohol and you'll most likely speed up your decline, keep it

to a drink a day and you may live an extra 5 or more yrs. longer.
As mentioned earlier, improved blood flow, stronger immunity and
lower blood pressure all contribute to greater longevity.
So, if you or someone close to you goes overboard with the alcohol,
perhaps showing him or her this post may get them to change their ways.

And one last tip, if you're really a fan of adult beverages and you like
to travel, why not combine the two?
Say what?
That's right, head online to Amazon.com.the kindle store and download
a copy of see title to the right...
Once you download it, you'll find out what people from
other states prefer to drink. And if you can't travel to
the states to get these drinks, there are recipes so you
can make them in the privacy of your own home.

Good Luck!

The Asian Rx For Perfect Health!

                        Peels For Better Health!
It seems the word "Superfood" is everywhere.
You know, blueberries, broccoli, garlic, salmon and green tea.
But some say these aren't the real "superfoods" No-
the real "superfoods" are the peels, the rinds, the tops
and the seeds of some of your favorite foods.

That's right, eating orange, lime, grapefruit, tangerine and banana peels
is something that's quite popular in countries like Asia, and one Asian doctor even
goes as far to say that- the increase in certain diseases may be a result of
not eating the peels.

Peels, tops,  rinds and seeds are packed with essential oils and nutrients, vitamins

and minerals that aren't present in the actual fruits or vegetables.
And if you want to live a little longer like some Asians, perhaps
you too, should take up the practice of eating peels.

And to get you started, here are a few peels and the benefits you
can get from each...

a) Orange Peels-
If high cholesterol is something that worries you, grate some
orange peel into your salad, smoothie or oatmeal.
b) Tangerine Peel-

Tangerines are popular right about now, and if you want to really
lower your odds of ever getting a number of cancers, add more tangerine
peels to your daily menus.
c) Banana Peels-
No, it's not a misprint, eating some banana peel each day can
boost your health 2 ways,
The 2 benefits:
Prevent depression
Put an end to Insomnia.
That's right, in some part of China, the people boil and then simmer
the peels for 8 to 10 mins. chop them up and add them to a smoothie,
a shake or a bowl of hot cereal.
Important tips:
Go slowly, grate a small amount in the beginning, too much peel may
cause stomach discomfort.
And make sure to really clean those peels. Peels and rinds hold onto
to most of the pesticides.

And if you want even more info on the benefits of tops,
(beet, carrot, radish, Swiss chard and squash)
head online to Amazon.com and type The Discarded Superfoods!
