Good Luck Rxs From Around The World!

Usher in More Good Luck This Year!

Another year is gone and soon it will be 2014.
Last year we brought you some foods that people
from other countries eat to usher in good luck.
If you read the post, then you may remember that people

in Spain and parts of Portugal eat 12 grapes.
Twelve being the number of months in a yr.

Well, we have a few more good luck traditions from around
the World, and none have anything to do with food.
a) Costa Rica-
The people do have some types of beans on the table, but they
also hope for a good year by carrying luggage.
That's right- at midnight Costa Ricans are carrying luggage up
and down the streets. The luggage may represent carrying out
bad things from one's home or they're hoping to travel somewhere.
b) Vienna Austria-
Melted lead. Yes, some in this picturesque city melt lead, then throw

it into cold water and see what shape it'll take.
The shape of the lead is suppose to foretell what will happen in the
New Yr.
c) Singapore-

The people of Singapore have a parade, but that's not all,
the floats traveling down the streets get manhandled.
Not really, the people are allowed to write funny things,
love notes, or messages of hope on the floats for the New Yr.
d) The U.S.
Although it's not a tradition in every city, some cities in the
U.S. bring in the New Year with gunfire. 12 shots to be exact.
Hopefully, the foolish ones who participate use blanks.
Real bullets do have to come down somewhere.
e) France-
If you're thinking wine, you're right, but there's much more.

The French have family dinners, eat a cake with a good luck trinket
tucked inside, sing songs, exchange gifts and then head out to
watch fireworks. And in some parts of France, they celebrate
the New Yr. by crowning a man and woman with the titles of "King
and Queen."
If you have a custom or tradition that you follow, by all means continue it
and make 2014, your healthiest, happiest and most prosperous New Yr.
And if you want the food Rxs to make it a great yr. go back and look at our
2012 post, "Good Luck Foods Rxs From Around The World!"

That's it- Have a great time wherever you are and continue reading
the info we put out, here and at our main site- SupermarketRxs@typepad.com.
Thank You!

France's New Year Rx For Improved Memory!

Drink The Bubbly For Better Memory!

When you think of a certain food or beverage, do you sometimes think
of the country that food or beverage came from?

For example, when you think of coffee, does Columbia or
Greece come to mind? Or when you drink tea, do you think

of England or Japan? (Green tea)
And when you think of wine, what country comes to mind?
If you said France, you have the same thoughts as a lot of people.
And when you think of Champagne, does France also come to mind?

Well, wherever it originated or what country consumes the most,
isn't important, what is?
That having a glass of  the "Bubbly" can help improve memory.

That's right- new research says that grapes contain polyphenols,
powerful antioxidants that reduce inflammation and helps
blood flow, especially to the brain.
And for those who aren't drinkers, find these polyphenols in
dark grapes, dark chocolate and blueberries.
One more tip- If you do have a glass or two of champagne a week,
make sure to skip the cigarettes and fatty foods, both of these things
will surely undo the good from the Champagne and do more damage
to your memory.

So, this New Year, drink champagne and build yourself a better memory.

Good Luck!

Eat This For A Better Mood!

If  you're a regular reader of this post, then you're well
aware of the health benefits that come from the
Nordic countries.

We've told you about Rye bread, (Denmark) and it's ability
to keep you full and prevent overeating.
And then there's fish. (Iceland and Norway)

We've mentioned how eating fish can
help prevent the blue and dark moods that plague so many,
especially during the dark-filled days of Winter.

And today, it's all about a vegetable that's popular mostly in the
Winter and like fish, it can also help boost moods.
The vegetable: Parsnips!

This vegetable has a sweet, nutty taste and when eaten it

serotonin. It also contains folate (vital for pregnant women)
a B vitamin that also brightens moods and increases energy.
So, if the less Sun drenched days of Dec. Jan, and Feb. are getting to
you, add more of the Viking food known as parsnips to your menus.

And if you're not sure how to prepare them, use the following
tips...Steam them until soft and then toss in butter, parsley
and dill. Or boil them until soft, and add some sweetners like
dark honey, (or brown sugar) some cream and spices like
cinnamon and nutmeg.

One more tip: If you're concerned about Strokes, eating parsnips is
a great way to lower your risk.

considering they've been doing it for thousands of yrs.

Stress, is a leading cause of illness in a number of countries,
and with the holidays and all that goes into the holiday season

Some nations may resort to the old fashioned pills, (doctor-

Also known as Holy basil, it's an antibiotic and anti-inflammatory and it comes
in a tea. Tulsi is receiving raves as an alternative to the antidepressants doctors are

yrs. Look for Tulsi tea online at Drugstore, com the brand--Organic India Tulsi

Great Britain's Rx For Preventing Stroke!

                      Eat Less Fish and Chips!

The practice of eating Fish and Chips may be over for the Brits,
why? Deep frying food in hot oil increases your risk of getting a stroke,
(strokes- caused by a disruption of blood flow to the brain)
Unlike baking, broiling or grilling, or steaming, deep frying foods produces
trans fats, (troublesome compounds) that attach themselves to artery
walls, making your brain's blood vessels more likely to clog.

But hold on, there's some good news- you don't have to give up

fish and chips entirely, have them once a month or once every 2 months,
and you slash your risk of every getting a stroke by 30%.

World's Best Rxs For Preventing Holiday Weight Gain!

         Stay Slim This Holiday Season!

The Winter holidays are here, and in some parts of the World-
the celebrations may be different than they are here in the U.S.

In the U.S. food is a big part of celebrating the holidays.
If you're one who celebrates with different foods and beverages,
be sure to proceed with caution, why?
It's not uncommon to gain anywhere from 3 to 15 pounds during
the Winter months, and if you want to prevent weight gain or just maintain
your weight, do like the folks from these countries...

a)  Cuba, Dominican Republic, Sardinia and Tuscany-
The people from these countries make beans the centerpieces of
their meals and researchers say the people are doing the right,
as far as weight is concerned. Beans, fill you up with soluble fiber.
Plus, the body burns lots of calories as it tries to break down fiber
and raising metabolism.
If you're not a bean eater, it's best to start slowly.
Make black, red, or Navy beans and pour them over rice.
b) Greece-
It could a number of things, the less stressful lifestyles, the olive oil,
the coffee, but it's actually the yogurt. Greek yogurt is creamier, tangier
and denser, and it packs twice as much protein as regular yogurt.
And more protein means a faster metabolism and more muscle growth.
Find Greek yogurt at supermarkets, throw in a few walnuts, and
some dark honey for a creamier, low-calorie dessert.

c) France-
Like the Greeks, it could be a number of things, but we'll name 2.
The cheese and the long, lingering dinners.
Lingering over dinner with conversation and slow eating can pay big
dividends, regarding your weight. Rush through a meal in 10 minutes
and your brain won't get the message that you're full and in another
hour, you're hungry again. Take your time and enjoy the meal,
another tip: chew each piece of food about 20 times.
Now on to the cheese, the cheese is made with a better quality
of milk and that results in more protein, and protein can help you
burn more fat and build stronger muscles. Ask the person behind the meat
or deli counter (at your local supermarket) to recommend a good
quality French cheese.
d) Japan-
Green tea and mushrooms.
Don't waste money buying expensive mushrooms, white button
will do the job just like Portabellas. Mushrooms keep cravings at bay.
e) Jamaica-

The frequent use of ginger is the reason for the slimmer Jamaican waistlines.
The heat from ginger increases the body's internal temperature, stoking your metabolism to burn fat all day long.  Add it to tea, or to stir-fried veggies,
There you have 5 countries and their secrets for preventing weight gain,
that's so prevalent in other countries.

The French Woman's Rx For Beating Holiday Stress!

                        Eat This To Beat Stress!

We're smack dab in the middle of the holiday season.
That means running endless errands looking for the perfect gift,

shopping for food and then cooking that food, entertaining guests or
traveling
somewhere to be entertained, ughhh, it never seems to end.
If this is you, you may want to do something the women of France do
to lower their stress levels.

What is it?
The women eat cheese.
Research shows that French women suffer less stress than their
American sisters, and cheese has a lot to do with it.
Cheese is rich in amino acids called 5HTP. These amino acids produce
the feel-good neurotransmitters serotonin and tryptophan (which
your body converts to the calming hormone known as melatonin.

Aim for 1 to 3 oz. of a good (hard) piece of cheese.
Also have a glass of wine with that cheese and really lower
your stress levels.  (make it 1 glass only).

And lastly, if you're not overwhelmed by stress, eat some cheese
to build and keep bones strong.

Tuscany's Food Rx For Better Moods!

                               Eat Your Beans!

With colder temperatures come increased appetites.

Why does it happen? Less sunlight, back-to-back holidays
that encourage eating and the abandonment of exercise programs.

If you recognize yourself in the above statements, then you might
have to eat the food that's considered a staple to the people of Tuscany.
That's right- Tuscany, a central region located in Italy, the people eat
Fava beans as the main course in a lot of their dishes.
And thanks to new research, Fava beans do more that satisfy your

appetite, they may boosts moods and help you avoid the constant
snacking that happens in the Winter months.

How does the Fava bean do it?
The buttery and nutty tasting bean may boost dopamine, (hormones
that give us pleasure). And if your dopamine levels get too low,
you try and find pleasure in a dozen donuts or endless bags of chips.
But, if your dopamine levels are at optimal levels, you tend to eat just

until you're satisfied.

So, are you ready to try this Fava bean dip and get your dopamine

levels up to optimal levels?
The Fava bean dip recipe:
Purchase Fava beans frozen. Take out a cup (let thaw) and place in a
food processor, add 1/4 cup of onions, chopped garlic (1 clove)
sun dried tomatoes, (pat the tomatoes dry), olive oil, 2 tbsps.
 a pinch of dried oregano,
basil and parsley.
and some salt and pepper.
Blend until smooth, remove and serve the dip with pita chips, or cut up
vegetables, like broccoli strips, asparagus tips, celery or carrot sticks.

That's it- your Winter recipe to help you stay slim and trim.
Also helpful: keep unhealthy foods out of the house.
Eat a piece of pizza, or have a burger on rare occasions.
Stick to a diet of lean meats, fish, vegetables, fruits,
Greek yogurt, olive and coconut oil and nuts. Or just follow

Rice is also popular in Asia and Beans are popular in parts of
Italy and the Himalayans, but the combination of rice and beans,
is more popular in South American countries.

Well, beans and rice incredible have benefits on their own,
beans- eaten a few times a week, help reduce waistlines,
fill you with much needed fiber and help you live a few yrs. longer.
And rice- especially brown rice can keep the heart in tip-top shape.
But when you combine them-you reduce your risk of breast cancer (women)
and diabetes.
First the beans, black beans are full of fiber and flavonols, and the combo
of the two, shield and protect breast genes, making them less likely to
become damaged when exposed to hoemones, pesticides and other
troublemakers.
And the rice, brown rice reduces your risk of diabetes, by steadying your
blood sugar by about 25%.

So, if you're concerned about breast cancer and/or diabetes, it's time to
add more beans and rice to your daily menus.

Good Luck!

The Mediterranean Secret To Youthful Skin!

A Simple Salad For Beautiful Skin!

In some countries like France, Italy, Greece and Spain-
a simple salad of mozzarella, basil, tomatoes and olive oil
is a meal all by itself. In the U.S. you have to add a few different types of
cheese, carrots, boiled eggs, and luncheon meats and that's considered
a meal.

Well, the simple salad many Europeans enjoy, is now winning raves thanks to

its ability to heal problem skin.
What type of skin problem?
Skin that's been damaged by the Sun.

And the salad that'll help undo some of that damage: A few tomato slices with
a tbsp. or two of extra-virgin olive oil drizzled over it.
Some of you may already be aware of a tomatoes' ability to
protect the skin from the Sun's damaging rays, but combine the two
and you have a formidable one-two punch punch against skin cancer
and looser skin.

So, take advantage of the fresh tomatoes at supermarkets
and at roadside stands and in 6 weeks you can expect firmer and less
damaged skin.

France's Plant Rx For Better Health!

Enjoy Better Health Like The French!

What can you say about the people of France?

They seem to eat full-fat foods, nap during the day,
enjoy long evening meals and drink wine yr. round,
and yet, they're health is way better than their American
counterparts.
One secret to their abundant health comes from a flower and that
flower is gaining in popularity World-Wide.
What flower are we speaking about?
The Lavender Flower!

Today- it's used in a number of ways, but our friends from France have
known about and used Lavender for centuries.

And if you're familiar with it's ability to help you sleep, the flower
can also help you...
a) Get A Thicker Head Of Hair-
Massage some lavender oil on your scalp for a min. or two each day
and enjoy luxurious locks.
b) Beautiful Skin-
Are you suffering from eczema, dermatitis, psoriasis (Kim Kardashian)
or adult acne? If so, try the lavender cure. Combine a few drops of lavender
oil with some almond oil and rub into the affected areas.
c) Beat Stress and Anxiety-
No need to go the pharmaceutical route when there's something natural
available, and that something is lavender oil.
When stress or anxiety get the best of you, put some on a cottonball and
inhale deeply. Also place some on your pillow, so anxiety won't trouble you
while you sleep.
d) Future Moms-
The fear of hours of labor frighten a lot of women, and luckily, the lavender
plant may be the non-drug answers you've been waiting for.
Look for a good quality Lavender tea and drink some during your pregnancy
and right up until you give birth. One tea to try: Celebration Herbals
Lavender Flowers Tea,
find it online at iHerbs.com.
Important note: Ask your Dr. about the tea first, it may not be suitable
for everyone.
e) Aches and Pain-
It happens to the  most of us at some times in our lives, an achy knee
or painful hands and now, lavender may be a remedy that won't cause
side effects or send you to the poorhouse.
Mix some lavender oil with a little olive oil (heat the O.O. up if you like)

tea as well.
f) Boost Brainpower-
Concerned about mental decline, forgetfulness or even Alzheimer's?

The Swiss Rx To Burn More Fat!

                       Eat This To Boost Metabolism!

Are you a fan of breakfast? Or do you prefer a cup of coffee

Well, you may want to rethink your position and eat the
food created by a Swiss nutritionist over 100 yrs. ago, what food is that?
Museli!

and if you have a bowl an hour before a workout- you'll
lose 70% more weight.
Nutritional experts credit the food's low glycemic

which ensures the meal won't cause the blood sugar spikes
that trigger fat storage and deplete your energy levels.

So, are you willing to give up your danish, or bacon, eggs

New Zealand's Food Rx To End Blue Moods!

Eat This To End Bad Moods!

We don't often think of New Zealand as a place that offers
much in terms of alternative healing, and if you're one who thinks
this, you're sadly mistaken.

A number of fruits, vegetables, herbs, spices, plants and honeys
come from New Zealand that can bolster health.

But today, we revisit a fruit that's indigenous to N.Z. and has
been featured on this site in the past.
The fruit: Kiwi!

The fuzzy fruit as you may recall from our past post can do
a number of things to help improve health, things like...
a) Keep colds at bay.  Work better than zinc tablets.

b) Improve circulation. Especially important for those who sit
at work for long hrs. or take long flights.
c) Improve your looks. One woman took 2 kiwis a day for
a stronger immune system and within 6 wks. noticed her undereye circles
were gone and she no longer needed to cake her makeup on.
d) And the latest discovery?
People prone to mild bouts of depression and anxiety attacks
noticed considerable improvement after eating them (kiwi) for a few wks.
So, if you or loved one suffers from blue moods or anxiety, perhaps
attempting to cure it naturally (not with prescribed meds) may be
all the medicine you need.

How does it work? Researchers say that kiwi is one of the best sources
of vitamin C and those who are deficient in this important vitamin
are prone to blue moods and anxiety attacks.
Also important: If you suffer from full blown depression, the Kiwi Rx
may not work for you.

So if you try it and it works, then you need to thank your friends from the
"other country that's down under" New Zealand!
Thank them with a letter or by visiting and spending some money.

Good Day and Good Luck!

The Scandinavian Rx To Lower Blood Pressure!

Lower Blood Pressure With This Fruit!

People are always seeking the "fountain of youth!"
Some say to achieve it you must follow the lifestyle choices of
the people from China, or Japan, or the Greeks from Ikaria,

or Italians from Sardiania, Tuscany or Sicily, and then there
are those that say follow the lifestyle choices of the Scandinavian people.

You know, Denmark, Iceland, Finland, Norway, Sweden, and the rarely
mentioned Greenland.

What choices do they practice?
Their diets, their exercise routines, their strong ties to family, friends and
community and their lack of interest in chasing material wealth.
And if you're suffering from high blood pressure, the Scandinavian

fruit may be all the medicine you need.
As many of you know, high blood pressure is a serious problem (especially in the U.S.)
and it can lead to a host of health issues.
Of course treating it with meds is the first and only option for a lot of
Drs. But what about side effects? Your Dr. probably won't mention those,
and that's why you must eat the fruit favored by the Scandinavians.

What fruit is that?
Eat Ligonberries. They're smaller, juicier and similar to cranberries.
Researchers had test subjects with high blood pressure eat a bowl of
ligonberries a day and the results were nothing short of amazing.
In some cases, blood pressure levels dropped by 20 or 30 points
in a matter of wks.

So ladies and gentlemen, if you or a loved one is suffering from
high blood pressure and you want to try something safer and all-natural,
look to the folks from the Scandinavian countries and load up on Ligonberries.

Find the berries or the juice at large supermarkets, health-food stores or specialty
shops that cater to foreign palates.
And one more thing- a bowl of ligonberries or a glass of ligonberry juice won't
work if you continue eating burgers, fries, stacks of pancakes and sugary beverages.

Good Luck!

Tea Rx From South Africa For Better Heart Health!

Drink Tea To Improve Heart Health!

In a lot of countries, tea is the preferred beverage.
In England, it's black tea, in Japan it's green and Jasmine tea
and in some parts of China-it's white or oolong tea.
And then there's South Africa- for centuries, the people of South
Africa have used the leaves from the Rooibos tree as a refreshing tea.
And for some time now, the benefits of drinking this tea have been

great looking skin.

That's right- Rooibos tea has been used to treat rashes, eczema
and other skin disorders.
But today, researchers say you can lower the bad (LDL) cholesterol levels
and raise the good (HDL) cholesterol levels by downing about
30 to 40 oz. of Rooibos tea a day.
This caffeine-free tea improves your liver's ability to keep blood
fats balanced.
And lastly, this tea is sweet tasting, so no extra sweetner is needed, and
since it doesn't contain caffeine, you can give some to small children,
(make it chilled tea, not hot) especially kids suffering from colic.

Find Rooibus tea at health-food stores or online at Amazon.com.

Mexico's Rx For Slimming Down!

                      Eat This To Lose Weight!

There's some good news and some bad news concerning weight.
First, the good news- The United States is no longer the fattest nation
in the World, and the bad news- Mexico has taken over the fattest nation
title.
Some say it's the sedentary lifestyles, some say the influx of Burger
Kings, McDonalds and KFCs.  And then there's the former health guru
from the 50's and 60's who says that "the more industralized a country
becomes- the fatter the residents become."
Also see China and Japan.

Well, if you're from Mexico, The U.S. or just want to slim down,
eat the "Mexican Omelette" and trim your waist a few inches.
The Mexican Omelette, what is that?

It's called that because of the peppers, but it can be called
the "Southwest Omelette" or the "South American Omelette"
whatever you call it- prepare an omelete as you normally would
and add some hot peppers.

Why peppers and eggs to slim down?
The hotness (called capsaicin) the peppers boost metabolism
and the eggs- contain compounds that fill you up and keep you
full especially as the day goes on.

As for the yolks- if you're not genetically predisposed to high cholesterol,
eat a few eggs a week without worrying.
And if you really want to turn off appetite, add some fresh mushrooms.
White button, crimini or portobellos.
One more tip- skip the buttered toast, the bagels, the hash browns,
the home fries, the big glass of O.J. the sweet danish and the 3 tsps.
of sugar in your coffee, these are the real culprits behind the weight
gains.

Good Luck!

Japan's Secret To Longevity!

                              Live Long and Prosper!

If you've been watching the news then you may be aware of
the death of "The Oldest Man In The World!"
His name was Jiroemon Kimura, lived in Japan and passed
away a few days ago at the age of 116.
Some speculate that diet may have played a part, a diet
of vegetables, broth, tea and rice in small amounts.

Those who've write about longevity have praised the
small amounts of food Rxs to achieve longevity and there's
ample amounts  of research to back it up, people like...
a) Goddard Dodge Diamond-
Live to 120 and attributed his longevity to olive oil. He ate it
and applied it to his body like lotion. At 90 he was still doing
gymnastic moves he did as a youngster.
b) Professor Li Chung Yun-
It's on record that the professor lived to over 200 yrs. of age,
and his secret- a vegetarian diet, similar to the other Asian
man who just died.
c) Luigi Cornaro-
He wrote the book- "Treatise on Corpulence". In the book he describes
how he was almost finished at age 40 due to overindulging
in sweets, breads and meats. He decided to cut way back and eat only
fish, some broth with an egg in it, veal, partridges, kid and mutton.
Some wine and again, olive oil. At 95, he said he needed less food and still
felt vigorous enough to mount and ride a horse.
d) A New Yorker-
An Italian man who continued to work into his 90's ate one meal
a day, a piece of cheese, a slice of bread and some wine.
d) Zora Agha-
And then there's the tragic story of Mr. Agha. He lived well into
his 100's, thanks to one meal a day, some cooked onions and 2 slices
of bread. A money hungry promoter brought him to the U.S. to talk
about living well past 100, and that's when the tragedy occurred.
The tragedy:
Tasting burgers and fries for the first time, Mr. Agha went overboard,
and ate the typical American diet for a yr. and after returning

home he passed away within a few months.

So, are you convinced? Are you ready to cut way back at the dinner table. If so, go slowly and make sure you choose foods that will energize and revitalize you.

And if you want more tips on how to make it to 100 and beyond, head to Amazon.com/ the kindle store and look for a book written by Dan Buettner (a frequent guest on Dr. Oz) "The Blue Zones!" or the book written by me and some others interested in alternative
health. The E-book-- The Asian, Greek, French and Italian Rxs For Super Longevity.

World Wide Rxs To Erase Stress and Anxiety Pt. 2!

                       Lower Stress and Anxiety Naturally!

As promised, here are some more tips from how the people
of Sicily, Tuscany and Peru ease stress and lower anxiety
levels.
a) Sicily-
Sicilians eat nuts to reduce anxiety levels. Nuts?

That's right- a nut that's used to flavor desserts like Ice
Cream and pastries and it's the favorite snack food of Rapper
Kanye West.
What is it? Pistachios! The nuts are packed with calming
magnesium, as well as B vitamins that raise levels of the relaxing
amino acid GABA in the brain.
Another benefit: They help you reduce the food cravings
brought on by stress and boredom.
b) Tuscany-
Another Italian country, and their method for staying calm-
Walking. The people of Tuscany walk while doing chores,
they walk to markets, and they walk to visit friends and family.

Walking has been called "nature's best antidepressant" by some
medical professionals, and it may be true.
Walking releases endorphins (the feel good hormones) and help
bring about calm in less than an hour.
Walk in a circle if you're bothered by something incredibly stressful,
20 mins should do it. Or walk on a trail or hiking path is you feel
your stress levels starting to rise.
c) The Andes Mountains-
The Peruvians who live high atop the Andes mountains
routinely make it to 100 yrs. of age, thanks to their
laid-back lifestyle, diet and ability to adapt to life's hardships.
One thing the Peruvians do to stay calm and even-tempered-
eat seeds. More specifically a seed called Sacha Inchi.
It's a crunchy seed that's loaded with omega-3 fatty acids,
as well as protein and vitamins A & E. The seeds are also high in trytophan,
which is needed to produce feel-good brain chemicals.
The seeds also help reduce mild bouts of depression.

Find Sacha Inchi under the name TerrAmazon and they're available
at health-food stores or Whole Foods.

World-Wide Rxs To Erase Stress and Anxiety!

                             Stop Stress and Anxiety Naturally!

Are you aware that most of the money being paid to hospitals
and doctors is for sleep aids, diabetes, heart disease, cancer
and anxiety and stress.
Yes, anxiety and stress meds are making a lot of hsopitals
and doctors rich.
If you or a loved one wants to reduce anxiety or stress levels
naturally, look for the natural solutions used by your ancestors.
a) Jamaica-
The Jamaicans love their nutmeg and new research says
that sprinkling a small amount on a cup of hot choc. or tea
or on hot cereal can reduce stress and trigger the brain's
production of alpha waves.
Just a half a tsp. a day, any more and it may trigger hallucinogenic
effects.
b) The Middle East-
Take your pick, Syria, Lebanon, Turkey, Yemen or Iraq.
They use a spice that's used to not only enhance flavor but it looks
good on rice and bean dishes. The spice: Saffron!
In fact, there's an old Persian saying-"If you're very happy, then you
must have had saffron for breakfast."
Saffron is so powerful, one doctor says he'd eliminate
all prescription drugs and prescribe saffron instead.
Saffron improves serotonin levels, (the happiness hormones)
and all you need is a pinch.
And there's more good news, it's now being used to treat women

and (men) who eat because of emotions and not hunger.
Look for it at specialty shops or look for it in capsule form at
Amazon.com. And be prepared--to pay a lot for it.
c) The Rainforest-
Yes, there's a rainforest in Chile, Brazil and Australia and the Australian

rainforest has a fruit that's rumored to relieve stress.
What is it? It's called "Finger Lime!" Nicknamed
"lime caviar" and "citrus pop-rocks" When you eat it,
you'll get a sensation of both lemon and lime.
And thanks to its high levels of vitamin C and potassium, both of which

help relieve stress and lower anxiety levels. Find this fruit at gourmet
shops or online at ShanleyFarms.com. Just peel and add them to
seafood dishes or make a dessert with them.
That's it- Tomorrow learn the secrets to relieve stress from Sicily

Happiness Secrets From Around The World!

                            Head To Bhutan For Happiness!

As promised, here are the "happiness" secrets from Bhutan,
one of the poorest countries in the World.
a) Surround Yourself With Happy People-
If you read yesterday's post, then you remember this tip
from the "happiness" secrets from Napa Valley, Cal.
It just means hang out, have meals and spend time with
people who are positive and upbeat. Researchers say we
copy the behavior of those around you. And if you have kids,
make sure you surround them with positive people.
b) Surround Yourself With Inspiring Messages-
Similar to post above, it simply means you should surround yourself
with upbeat proverbs and inspirational sayings.
In Bhutan, the people don't have billboards with pithy sayings,
but they do have-flags with positive messages.

To find inspiration in your life, follow someone on Twitter
who dispenses positive messages like Rev. Run or LLCoolJ.
Or go online to QuoteGarden.com, copy something that appeals

to you and read it before leaving for work or school and again
at night.
c) Do Something Hard-
Give up on something when it becomes difficult? Not the people of Bhutan,
they love a challenge and stick it out to the the end.
People feel a rush of pride after successfully accomplishing something
that's very challenging.
Your assignment- Do something- whether it's learning a new language
or doing something on your computer other than send e-mails
and see if it doesn't feel you with pride.
d) Do This Exercise-
You won't see the people of Bhutan in the gym exercising for hrs.
nor will you see them jogging for miles each day, the exercise
that's very popular- Taking slow, deep breaths and meditating.
Doing this for a few weeks helps lower stress levels and helps build
up your compassion for others. A woman who did the slow breathing exercises
for a few wks. was able to end the negative thoughts and anxiety that plagued
her for yrs.
Go online to Google.com and type how to slow breathe or meditate
in the search bar.
e) Remember Karma-
What you put out in the universe, you'll get back.
That's what the people of the Bhutan think, and so do a lot of people

from a lot of countries. Doing good and helping others helps you
feel more optimistic, less stressed and feel a sense of self-worth.
Your Assignment- Do something good (big or small) and see if you
feel better. Pay for the people who are behind you at the toll booth,
help an elderly man or woman across the street, or donate to a charity
that helps animals or people involved in fires or other unfortunate mishaps.

That's it- and remember, if things aren't going the way you want,
think of the people of Bhutan. No matter how dark and bleak
things are, they're always smiling.
See title at right.

Good Luck!

boost your happiness levels. The 2 spots... one is in the U.S. and the other
is nestled high atop the Himalayan mountains.

Where are these 2 hot spots?
One is in Napa Valley California (aka Wine country)
and the other is Bhutan!
So, look below and find out their secrets for unending bliss.
Napa Valley California-
a) Stay After The Meal-
Simply stated-Linger after the meal. It's called the "slow food
movement" and sitting down enjoying the meal and the conversation

can boost happiness. Eat fast and avoid conversation and you miss out
on really tasting the food and building relationships.
b) Hanging With Happy People-

Avoid people who gossip endlessly and keep you mired in negativity.
Being around people who are upbeat and positive can be contagious
and they help you feel better, become more productive and less stressed.
c) Avoid These Words-
Swear words to be exact. You may feel good as you're saying them,

but they can bring down your moods and the moods of those you're
using the words against. And using profanity frequently makes those
close to you feel less connected and may even cause depression levels
to increase. So, choose your words wisely.
d) Enjoy The Outdoors-
People in Napa Cal. spend more time outside than people anywhere
else in the U.S. and there's a reason for it: Being outdoors in the
sunlight raises your levels of dopamine and serotonin. (both are
nuerotransmitters) that boosts moods and reduce stress levels.

And don't believe the hype about the diabolical effects of the Sun,
the more vitamin D (you get from the Sun) the better your health.
It (the Sun) helps lower your risks of everything from Cancer to
depression to sexual problems.
e) Drink Up-
It's not called "Wine Country" for nothing.

Napa valley is home to over 300 wineries and a glass a day can
lower blue moods, keep weight down, lower risks of Alzheimer's
and heart disease and keep you looking a few yrs. younger than
your actual age.

That's it- 5 reasons the people of Napa Valley California
may the happiest people in the U.S.
Tomorrow- find out why the people of Bhutan have been named
the happiest people outside of the U.S.

And for those who are concerned about skin, lung, cervical,

World-Wide Rxs To Reduce Breast Cancer!

                     Reduce Breast Cancer Naturally!
It's been reported that women are more afraid of breast cancer
than they are of strokes, heart disease, brittle bones
and Alzheimer's.
If you find yourself in that category, lower your risks with some help
from your sisters from other countries, their suggestions:
a) Greece-
You may think it's the Mediterranean diet, but it isn't,
it's grapeseed oil. Like extra-virgin olive oil, grapeseed oil
contains compounds that help the breasts shut down the risky
genes that turn into cancer.
b) South Korea-
The women eat a spicy, fermented cabbage called Kimchi, and
it's popular there, like fries are in America. And it
may be the reason for the low rates of cancer.
Cabbage, cauliflower, broccoli and Brussels Sprouts
are cruciferous vegetables and they're a group of vegetables
that knock out the harmful carcinogens that cause cancer.
Look for Kimchi at Asian markets or go online to Google.com,
and learn to make it yourself.
c) The Hunza Tribes-
They live atop the Himalayans and according to health researchers-
the people have never heard of the word Cancer. How is this so?
Apricots. That's right- Apricots, a less sweeter tasting peach,
contains Beta-carotene and that fires up your immune system to fight
off harmful cancer cells. Eat apricots fresh or dried, (read the label
and avoid them if they have sulfites as one of the ingredients).
d) France-
Is it the wine, the long dinners, the walks through the streets,
or the naps after their lunches? It may be all of those or the cheese.
The Cheese?
Yes, good quality cheese contains vitamin K2 and it's vital
to keep your cells healthy and fight off cells that want to cause
problems. Stop investing in $2 or $3 brands of cheese and
buy the good stuff, your health depends on it.
e) Fiji, Hawaii, Jamaica-

These countries all have about 300 or more days of Sun,
and the more Sun you get, the lower your breast cancer rates,
(less prostate cancer for men). But, isn't the Sun bad for you?
No, and if you're thinking of skin cancer, think again.
You never hear of skin cancer in Fiji, Tibet, or Peru.
In fact, the Sun can boost your health in a number of ways,
as for breast cancer- it boosts levels of vitamin D and the more
vitamin D you have in your system, the fewer cancerous and

precancerous cells you'll have in your system.

That's it- 5 countries and their secrets to avoiding the
number 1 disease feared by women...Breast Cancer.

even giving you relief from allergies.
So, are you convinced? If so, look below, and start your own process of
natural healing.

a) Stop A Headache-
Look at the Mona Lisa! Looking at great art can numb pain.

And one more thing- You have to want to be healed and have an
interest in the art.

To view art online- go to MOMA.org and Louvre.fr.
b) Lower Stress Levels-
Try and imagine a tropical beach from Hawaii or The Bahamas.
Beach scenes help relieve stress and can even burnout.

to the image by believing it's actually there. Relieve your own stress and
save money by going online to-EarthCam.com. and type "beach" into the
search bar.
c) Solve a Problem-
By looking at the Pyramids. Need to solve a difficult problem?
Look at an image of a faraway, exotic place like the Egyptian
Pyramids or Great Wall of China. Seeing or imagining some
distant place changes your perspective, helping you see the big
picture and to think in more abstract terms. And looking at these
landmarks helps lead you to answers to a difficult problem.
Download a photo of the Great Wall of China from your computer.

d) High Blood Pressure-
Taking prescribed meds can be expensive and may cause side effects,
want something natural? Look at an Aquarium.
The flowing motions of the fish is like meditation that eases the pressure-
causing tensions, helping the blood vessels to open up.

The Rain Forest's Rx To Prevent Diabetes!

                                       Ward Off Diabetes!

You may know about the Rainforest of Brazil, but there are also rainforests
in Peru, Ecuador, Panama and Tasmania.

Today, we'll focus on the Rainforest of the Yucatan Penisula.
The rainforest here- like others offer a host of healing plants that
not only help you look better, but feel better as well.
And the healing plant we're talking about is Cerasee.
It's also known as bitter melon and it might be one of the best
weapons
to stop a deadly disease in its tracks.
The disease: Diabetes!

Cerasee has been used for decades to lower blood sugar levels,  and
research shows that it improves glucose tolerance and lowers hypoglycemia
50% within an 8 hour span.
Give credit to the natural compounds in the plant that act like insulin and
activates a protein that regulates blood sugar. And more good news:
It may even be more effective than a Dr's prescribed drugs and doesn't come
with a host of side effects.
So, if you're from a family with a history of diabetes or you just want to make
sure you never get it, look to the rainforest of the Yucatan for your preventive
medicine.
Look for Cerasee in tea form or look for in capsule form (Bitter melon capsules)
and you should be able to find it at Latin markets or health-food stores.
And with any type of pill, vitamin or supplement, it's best to talk to your
healthcare professional before trying it.

Good Luck!

England's Rx For Better Health!

A Spot Of Tea For Better Health!

Let's face it- the English are known as tea drinkers.
And there are a lot of tea drinkers in some Asian countries,
but when it comes to black tea, the English rule.
And drinking 2 to 3 cups of good stuff can help you with
health-related issues, what are they?
Heart disease and bone loss.

That's right- New research says that 3 cups of black tea a day
cuts your risk of having a heart attack by 15%. Compounds
formed during the fermentation that turn green tea into black,
are called theaflavins, and they can lower "bad" cholesterol and
raise good cholesterol. Theaflavins also reduce pressure on artery walls
and that helps lower blood pressure.

And now for bone loss. Concerned about losing bone density as you get older?
Well, the 3 cups of black tea that stave off heart disease, can also keep the
bones stronger, especially the bones around the hips.

So, if you're a tea drinker- like our friends from across the pond,
continue doing it. Just make sure to have the tea with a little honey
and lemon, and skip the scones, danish, canolis and other pastries.
The combination of white flour and sugar can really take a toll on your

heart and bones.

And for the women out there, look for a gift from the writers of this

Sicily's Food Rx For Better Health!

                                      Live Long Like A Sicilian!

The people of Sicily are some of the longest-lived in the World.
The number of people reaching their 100th birthdays grows
each day. Researchers say it's a number of things that help them

reach 100, things like...walking, strong family ties, religion, the unrushed pace
of eating meals, the foods- olive oil, tomaloes and capers.

Capers? Yes, capers.
The slightly salty pickled flowers are great for flavoring foods,

but they also boost health. How?
By helping you become more energetic. Capers contain
quercetin- a phytonutrient that helps your body burn

oxygen faster.

Quercetin is also an anti-inflammatory and helps reduce your risk of
dementia and heart disease.
And there's more- they also nuetralize any harmful toxins during digestion.
Add them to meats, pizza, salads and pasta sauces.
One tip- add them near the end of cooking your sauce (or gravy)
or they'll make the sauce bitter.

And if you want to look younger and thinner but can't wait for the
results of a diet, why not use makeup, a hairbrush or a curling iron?
Don't believe it- look for a new E-document written by some of the members
who contribute to this blog and RedCarpetRxs.

The World's Healthiest Food!

                                 Eat More...and Live Longer!

Hey ladies and gentlemen, the USDA (the United States Department of Agriculture)
just named the healthiest food in the
World. Can you guess what it is?
Is it garlic? Blueberries? Watercress? Garlic? How about-
fish, or broccoli, or plain yogurt? Is it Wine?
Well, the answer is no, no and no.

What is it? It's a bean, no not black, navy, lima, garbanzo
or lentil.

The true answer is the Red Bean.
The USDA says not just the healthiest bean, but food,
and that makes sense considering that countries like
Sardinia, Tuscany, Peru, The Dominican Republic and Ikaria
Greece have some of the longest lived people in the World
and they all share a common habit.
The habit: They make beans the main part of their meals.
Unlike a lot of wealthier countries that threw out
the traditions and diets of their ancestors and adopted a meat diet,
poorer countries still make of most of their meals with the lowly bean.

And why was it named the "healthiest" food?
It's loaded with fiber and protein, they have plenty of B vitamins
and energizing compounds.

And even more great news: The people that eat the most beans also
enjoy the slimmest waistlines and live an average of 8 to 12 yrs longer
than their meat-eating counterparts.
So, if you're ever asked to name to the healthiest food in the World,
remember this post and give the answer-the Red bean.

And if you want tips on how to stave off aging ans live long
and healthy like the Aussies, The Peruvians, The Italians, The
Greeks, The Irish, The Spaniards, The Hunzas, The Okinawans, The Fijians,

The Jamaicans, and many more, just go to Amazon.com--
the kindle store and download a copy of The Asian, French,
Greek and Italian Rxs For "Super" Longevity.

It was written by me along with others interested in
eliminating the "big pharmacies" all over the World.

Thanks!

Love Rxs From Around The World!

                         Boost Your Love Life Naturally!

With the Spring season finally here, love is in the air.
And warmer weather for some means more passion,
but for others it may be a reason for concern.
The concern: Aging, eating high fat treats for the past
3 months or just not interested.
If you need help in the libido department, why not look

for help from your brothers and sisters all over the World.

That's right- look below and find out the Aussies,
French, Italians, and Greeks keep the flames of passion
burning.
a) The Aussies-
If you said drinking, you're wrong. It's the surf and turf.
Also known as meat and seafood. Their love of shrimp,
lobster and other foods loaded with zinc is the real reason.

Our bodies need the mineral in order to produce testosterone-
the key hormone of desire for both men and women.
And if you're a woman who's cutting out red meat and/or

seafood, look out. Why? You'll get frequent colds that'll last for days
and sometimes longer. Another tip: The Aussies eat a higher quality
of beef and fish. Not the chemically enhanced, hormone laden stuff that
impersonates meat and fish here in the U.S.
b) Italy-
Take your pick- the olive oil, the vino or the endless dishes served with tomatoes.
It's all of the above, but what really helps Italians perform their bedroom
duties: Coffee.
Often criticized, drinking more coffee may help with the
No. 1 problem facing most couples: Tiredness. It can also boost
production of the sexually stimulating brain chemical-Dopamine.
And ladies, although coffee works, the real drink to rev your engines-
Cappuccino. It contains more energizing boosting calcium.
c) France-
Yes, it's the wine, and it may help the French enjoy lovemaking
a whopping 3 to 5 times a week. Wine acts as a relaxant and an
icebreaker.
Plus, it helps keep plaque from sticking to delicate arteries,

especially those located near the sex organs. One warning:
Don't overdo the wine, if you do, you'll only fall asleep.
d) Greece-
Like France and Italy, the Greeks enjoy wine, olive oil,

lean meat and coffee and they combine it all and call it
"The Mediterranean Diet!"
This diet rich in olive oil, yogurt, nuts, fruits, vegetables,

fish and whole grains helps those with low sex drive or libido.
The diet reduces inflammation and boosts circulation throughout

the body, especially to the genitals. It also helps increase energy
and lowers risk of depression.

So, if low libido, fatigue or non interest is ruining your chances
of performing to your full potential, look to Australia, France,
Greece or Italy for help.

And if you're a woman who's been asking for your own
version of Viagra, perhaps we can help.
How? go to Amazon.com and look up our new E-document.
